Class Description: Never used a sewing machine before, or maybe haven't used one since Home Ec and just want a refresher? Feeling a little nervous about sewing machines in general? That’s okay! Whether you're a wide-eyed sewing novice or seeking a cozy comeback to the maker community, let’s build your confidence so you can sew with ease! Our Bernina Academy machines are made for learning, and all the skills you learn on our machines will translate to your own home sewing machines as well.
In this class you will learn how to use a sewing machine: what all those buttons and dials do, what a bobbin is, what thread tension is, how to clean out lint, and how to safely use a sewing machine to join fabrics together. While we will be using fabric, this is NOT a project based class, so we won’t be completing a specific item. This class is focused on you learning sewing machine usage/operation in order to build your fundamental maker skills and increase your sewing confidence.

Class Registration
All Hoop & Bee classes require registration to ensure enough seats and equipment for everyone. If you have any questions or difficulty scheduling, please reach out and we’ll be happy to help during our regular daytime staffed hours, Monday - Friday from 10am-4pm.
This class will run with 2+ participants. If there are not enough participants, you will be contacted to shift your seat to another time/date this class is being offered.
NOTE: if you do not see any classes on the schedule, it means either all classes are currently full, or are not being offered at this time. If you would like to register for a waiting list OR request a class to be offered in the future, please contact us.
Before your first class, please review our Class Policies. All participants should be 18+ unless approved by the instructor. Remember to only bring closed-top beverages to class! We are located on the second floor of Eastworks in Suite 209. We look forward to making with you!
